Regional media representatives met with the officials of governmental agencies and the EU Delegation

On May 23, accredited media representatives of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions met with the representatives of the governmental agencies and the European Union Delegation in Tbilisi. The visit was organized within the framework of the project "Support the government in order in ensuring the broad public support and consensus towards the Euro integration processes in minority-populated regions of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli".

Regional media representatives met with Ivan Matchavariani, the President's Adviser for Foreign Affairs; Maia Panjikidze, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Alexi Petriashvili, State Minister of Georgia for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia; Boris Iarochevitch, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, as well as Juan Echanove, Attache for the Food Safety and Rural Development at the ED Delegation.

During the meetings, discussions went around the Georgia-EU Association Agreement and its main aspects. The journalists' questions were answered regarding the issue. At the EUD, attendees discussed the issues related to perspectives for trade, agriculture, economic development after signing the Association Agreement, as well as the ways to be passed before signing the Agreement and then accession to the EU. At the EU Delegation, conversation also went around the protection of minority rights. According to Boris Iarochevitch, visa-free travel to Europe will be only possible for Georgia after the enactment and implementation of anti-discrimination law.
