Representatives of the PMMG organized meetings with the population of Ninocminda and Akhalkalaki yesterday, on 7 June. The representatives of local NGOs and media organizations participated in the meeting in the form of question-answer, as well as farmers, start-up businessmen, students and publically active local citizens. In sum, up to 60 participants were present in the meeting.
We presented the participants of the meeting the goals and content of the ongoing project of the organization ,,Broad public involvement in the detection and resolution of problems in Akhalkalaki and Ninocminda’’.
The event has been led by executive director of the PMMG Aleksandra Kalatozishvili and director of the project Dimitri Tsertsvadze. Meetings with the population have been covered by the local media too.
The implementation of the mentioned the provision of broad public needs and interests of Akhalkalaki and Ninocminda Municipalities by the local authorities and promotion of effective planning and implementation of program priorities.
In addition, the project consists of two main stages – advocating and monitoring. Advocating process includes the lobbying of the two main problems identified by the initiative groups of local population to be the part of 2017 years budget plan of the local government; monitoring stage provides observation of the solving process of the mentioned problems.
Within the same day of the project the chairman of the PMMG met with the representatives of the local government. In particular, Arnold Stepanian had meetings with Samvel Petrosian, deputy of Akhalkalaki, Eduard Aghasariani, representative of the local government of the same Municipality, Hamlet Movsesian, the chairman of the council. The meeting was attended by the local coordinator of the PMMG. The parties agreed to actively cooperate in the project                                                                                   .
On the same 7 June, Arnold Stepanian has been a guest of local radio NOR and in live translation talked about the content and meaning of the project, as well as some problems and challenges of ethnic minorities in the regions.
The project, titled ,,Broad public involvement in the detection and resolution of problems in Akhalkalaki and Ninocminda’’ is already ongoing for one month and it includes the creation of two councils, 10 people each, who will be constantly monitoring work and program priorities of local self-government on the interest and needs of the society.
